Many of us do not know but, the word ‘Organization’ and ‘Organism’ are derived from the same root term. In the same way ‘Company Culture’ is very much similar to ‘natural ecosystems’.

Whatever values and strategies the founder of a startup are seeding, in the beginning, same he/she will be the resultant in next five years or so.

Let me tell you straightforward that the ways you run your company in its initial stage define its fate in coming years. Culture is nothing but a natural outcome of the way early business owners choose to build up a firm.

It also states that company culture can be suitably designed similar to a beautiful garden at the backyard of your home. Just decide what sort of crops you want in coming years and plant the respective seed for it.

Define your company goals and apply the concept of reverse-engineering to it. When you adapt to this methodology, you will be sure of how to work right now and hence your workflow will be streamlined in close proximity with the company goals.

If you do not wish a stressful, unbalanced, misdirected and a frenetic kind of environment in your firm in coming years, then stop planting those kinds of seeds in your startup from this second only.

Just as apple cannot grow on an oak tree, similarly, a company with stress, indiscipline, and lack of goals cannot grow into a successful one.

Make it Simple, Make it Best

It was the year 2006; Mark Parker has just become the new CEO of Nike. At that time, Mike asked Steve Jobs about any tips latter had for him regarding becoming a CEO.

At that time, Jobs suggested Mike that Nike certainly does make a lot of good products but they also made a lot of stuff that is useless. Being a visionary, Jobs told Mike to get rid of the crappy stuff and just focus on the good.

It is this focus on simplicity, which is why apple is one of its kinds amongst so many tech-related firms in the market. But why do most of the companies just cannot do what Apple did? What is it that lacks in rest of the companies?

Going back to Apple, if you ask any senior team member at the company about the way they do business, the response you will get is simply amazing.

Apple’s work culture is only defined to do one thing only: Create a better product.

If they are not able to create a better product or improvise any product, they simply refuse to do it. This constant focus on ‘simplicity’ and ‘one-vision’ is the key that brings Apple to the position it rules today.

Give Space

All successful companies were once a startup and so we have some experience to learn & earn from. See, it is quite simple and straightforward.

You don’t have to work 24 hours a day to be a successful startup. All the big companies, successful athletes, musicians, artists, and actors have one and only one way of reaching the top of their industry; constant duration of highly intense performance and systematic yet firm renewal.

Most of the startups nowadays are only focusing on the first step (high intense performance) and not on the latter part (Renewal). May be that is why we are seeing intense burnouts in mostly all of the startups today.

Being a smart business owner, your focus should be equally divided on both; providing an intense performing output; energy rejuvenation.

As I said earlier, it is very important to plant the first ‘Seed’ very carefully; in the same way making a perfect start is very difficult. A perfect start may not be a high-profit start but a start that assures a balanced and profitable future.

Many entrepreneurs/CEO/Leaders think that being busy is the correct way of generating maximum output. What they always forgot is being busy is nowhere related to being successful. Most of the successful individuals, leaders, CEOs are the ones those give ample time to their work, family and most importantly themselves.

Remember, space is always important unless you are targeting something other than success.

Rejuvenation of energy is an important concept and may rightly differ from person to person. But as the owner of a startup, these kinds of activities should be incorporated in your company calendar regularly.

Make a unique System

In the business world, the word system is used in multi-situations; working hours; working locations; recruitment policy; on-boarding, and allied.

Always remember that each procedure or policy that is touching the humans (employees) is doing either of one function; it is nourishing and helping grow the culture you wanted, or it is destroying the same. It is next to impossible to do same simultaneously.

Seeing the companies such as Google and Facebook, which are known for their unique work culture and astonishing policy makers, I can tell that for making a startup grow regularly and reach the top, uniqueness is essential.

Uniqueness in the way you do work. Ask yourself “Why are we doing, what we do?” or “What can we do right that nobody has done?”

These sorts of questions will enlighten your mind and provide you with the precise answers or methods that will help you creating an astonishing work culture.

Conclusion

There is a very thin line that separates a ‘winner’ from an ‘almost-winner’. That thin line is what we call as uniqueness. Making a company unique is same as making a work culture that is unique and only these kinds of companies last in this cut-throat competition.

How SAAS LABS Is Redefining the Start-Up Culture in India?

Startup; a word with multiple definitions and subjective outlook has been a major topic of discussion among corporate professionals and youth. Working in an environment, where people do not interfere with your professional outlook and discipline guidelines can be both easy and tough simultaneously.

A place where senior management only cares about your work objectives and deadlines, where you can have to be assured to have fun alongside work. Is it a myth?

Are the corporate and traditional professionals right, when they say that startups are all about fun and no work? Or is it real? Do companies like Facebook and Google have really understood the meaning of ‘Startups’ and have successfully placed themselves as a place where work is fun?

I am really no one to judge anyone, but talking about startups always gives me the same feeling, when I think of time-travel.

Both are fascinating and both are on-book theories and mostly no one has really been able to get near to experience either of them. When I came back to NCR (India), I was looking for a workplace where I can find my vision of life to align with company’s goal.

SaaS Labs, a solution-driven company, started on 26th February 2016 by two far-sighted and ingenious siblings ‘Gaurav Sharma’ and ‘Ammrita Sharma’ matched my preferences ideally.

Gaurav, a chemical engineer by degree, could never resist the love for his first girlfriend “Coding”. It was his idea of building his own company, which thrilled his mind since he was a child.

On the other hand, Ammrita, a software engineer by profession possesses her own startup experience and is handling operations for the company.

Together both of them lay a strong foundation for a stupendous workplace, where each employee feels like an asset to the company.

Work Culture

Well, it’s a Monday morning and you cannot be more excited to go to the office. Sounds unfamiliar right? This is the daily routine of SaaS Lab’s employees. People here are not designated work but they choose what to do.

It will be a misconception to say that in startups people do not work and it’s all about fun. In SaaS Labs, there is no concept such as employees; all personnel, right from Gaurav till our respective teams addresses each other as teammates.

Work is fun because each person is doing what they love and not what they had to. It is this dedication and inspirational level that even on Sundays some of us work to meet the deadlines.

You might be thinking “What sort of company is it, where people are working on Weekends too?”

I do not work on weekends (from home) because I am supposed to or I am lagging behind the deadlines. It is the inspiration to work as much as I can, in order to ensure personal & professional growth that drives me straight to the incomplete projects.

Many firms have this practice of providing ‘work from home’ facility. It is not a facility here at SAAS Labs; it is a privilege to work for your own growth accordingly. Each employee works to ensure their own personal growth in close proximity with company goals.

Tech Team

Tech Team is one of the backbones of our company. It is these brilliant minds that render the other department a cause to work on.

Meet our Tech Team Lead, Prateek Khurana. An innocent face with a child-like smile, he has a brain of a million codes while solving a bug/query. It is his mind and discipline that our tech team is so eminent when it comes to both effectiveness & efficiency.

Other Tech team members such as Tejendra, Tushar, Santa and Vivek ensure to aid Prateek in keeping the website at an exquisite level.

Marketing Team

Making this one of the most hard working and proficient employees when it comes to interacting with customers or promoting our products, Marketing team surely is a trump card for our company.

Let’s introduce you to our Sr. digital marketing manager; Sanjay Negi. With an all-time smiling face with loads of optimism and energy, Sanjay is the person responsible for increasing the visibility of our firm and our products.

Another important name, which is the sole warrior for customer interaction and maintains a bridge between SAAS Labs and Customer Pool, is Aditya Sharma. As a ‘Customer Success Manager, Aditya ensures to solve any issue that is bothering the customers and ensuring a better ‘Customer Base’.

Graphics Team

This is a team, which makes the message of company diffuse to the client pool, via an image-based medium. Lead by Deepak Sisodia, Graphics team works in conformation with other teams.

Head of graphic team, Deepak is a silent but sincere person. Always looked like he is thinking something, Deepak transforms the textual message in a visual format to make it much more connective to our target customers.

Human Resource

Our ‘one woman army’ who is maintaining and controlling all the activities related to human resource, and making sure to keep a well-versed and hassle-free environment in the company. She is bubbly, always greeting with a smile and is one of the major assets of the company.

Sales Team

This is a newly formed segment of our workforce. Lead by two aspiring and good-to-go professionals Saurabh Jhakar and Sriram, Sales team always make sure to reach the customers at the appropriate day & time to increase the market share in the industry.

Content Team

One of the most important factors in creating a large & loyal customer base is communicating the right message. Content Team makes sure to document all the internal requirements and also create marketing articles & blogs, in order to provide a crystal clear communication.

Lead by me; Shashvat Vats; this team prepares, handles and checks the content of all departments in a streamlined manner.

Senior Management

Here  comes ‘The Boss’, CEO of SaaS Labs, Gaurav Sharma, who ensures to work day & night to make sure all the other departments have a goal to accomplish.

COO Ammrita Sharma, COO of SaaS Labs, is a major reason, why SaaS Labs is growing so fast.  Her multitasking skills and handling the situation attitude keep the process flow to be streamlined.

Our team works together in a fun environment where problem solving is seen as a challenge to utilise your skills with utmost efficiency. Apart from work, different weekly activities such as Potluck, Weekly Interactive Sessions, and Cross-Functional Learning Sessions keep a fun-based environment in the workplace.
